FimB
FimB is a regulator of the fim operon, which produces Type I pili. FimB inverts an invertible DNA region containing the promoter for the fim operon, and has a slight preference for "on" [1]. It competes with FimE, which only inverts the region from "on" to "off".
Overexpression of this gene should lead to increased piliation, and we have used this part to attempt the induction of flocculation of E. coli with algae.
